Hi All!

As I mentioned before that IT has been removed from shortage occupation list. My work permit which is mutiple entry work permit is going to be expire after 3 months and my employer does not need my services anymore so I have got another job and my new employer is applying for my new work permit.

I have come to know that you cannot change your employment on mutiple entry work permit. Moreover, if my job remains the same do my new employer need to advertise the post as I am holding multiple entry work permit. I know that employer does not need to advertise if your job remains the same but the thing that is making me confuse I am not clear about multiple entry work permit even I have read the information about it but I am not clear.

Can anybody help me in providing the authentic information. Hector, Ala Kay38 and others..... Thanks!

If you are on the multiple entry WP, you cannot change your job - i.e. your employer MUST advertise even if you will be doing the same type of job as you are doing now.

Sorry - you can find details here: http://www.workpermits.gov.uk/default.asp?PageId=2021...

Thanks Alex for your reply.

But its not mentioned anywhere on this page that employer need to advertise for the job even if the job remains the same.

But the thing that makes me confuse is that, HO web site says on the above mentioned page:

"If you want to apply for a multiple entry work permit you should apply on a WP1 form. You cannot apply for an extension; a fresh application must be submitted on a WP1 form if a further period is required. This also applies to change of employment applications".

On the other side it says regarding CHANGE OF EMPLOYMENT:

"If the person is currently on a multiple entry work permit, you will need to make a fresh application. You cannot change employment under the multiple entry work permit arrangements".

If suppose the first paragraph is true then it does'nt seems to be meant that employer need to advertise the post. So I am unclear still because the problem is that my new employer didnt advertise the post and I dont want to miss this chance as my work permit is going to be expired after 3 months.

So can you let me the easy way out. Also Hector or Sanwar Please!

It means that if your new position is Tier-1, the new employer does not need to advertise, otherwise - he must advertise even if you are doing the same type of job on your multiple entry work permit now.

In case of "real" work permits, the new employer wouldn't need to advertise even if your current position was in Tier-2. Problem with multiple entry permits is that they are not completely real permits.

Indie...

Don't worry about what Alex says... Ask Hector, Alex has a kind of socio-cultural trauma (that I assume it comes form his very difficult childhood in a radical communist environment) that affects his judgments and make him put everything 500% harder than it really is.

Alex is absolutely right in this case. The nature of a multiple-entry work permit is rather different to that of a regular one. See my answer in http://www.workpermit.com/ubb/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=1&t=002754
