Mauricio Member Member # 1882 | Posted September 11, 2002 12:54 AM At the moment I am finishing an MSc on computer communications and networks here in the UK and next week I am attending an interview for a three languages IT helpdesk position (Spanish, Italian and English). I am just wondering how the new regulations about IT shortage could affect the chances to get a work permit for this specific position. Helpdesk wasn't in the shortage skills anyway so I believe that even before those changes take place my case would go on tier 2. Am I right?? By the way, is anyone who has got a work permit for a similar position who can share his-her experience in how easy- hard is to get a work permit for this kind of jobs where several languages are required??? Thank you in advance!! |
Elisa Member Member # 2487 | Posted September 11, 2002 02:41 AM Because you speak 3 languages you are going to have no problem getting a WP even if they do have to advertise. There is always a demand for multilingual people in I.T call centres over in the UK. I met several people in Ireland this year who were on work permits for similar positions and they had no problems at all getting approved. It's not easy to find IT people that speak 3 or more languages. In fact I can tell you that I often see thos positions advertised here in Canada for the UK and more specifically Ireland as there are many support centres there and we have a a large variety of cultures here so alot of people speak multiple languages. Good luck to you and I hope everything works out :} |
