Joseph Member Member # 184 | Posted October 08, 2002 09:51 AM You are not able to get a work permit from a visitor visa. Entering the UK on a visitor visa with the intention of staying permanently is something that UK Immigration do not look kindly on. You may interview with companies and find a job here, but your employer will have to apply for the work permit while you are out of the country. Then you can reenter the UK with the proper status. Thorsten von Thyssen Member Member # 4397 | Posted October 08, 2002 03:49 PM Find yourself a British wife and you can stay here forever. According to the recent census results there is a shortage of 1 million young men here. So it should not be that difficult to find one. Thorsten von Thyssen Member Member # 4397 | Posted October 09, 2002 08:38 AM Try networking through family, friends and so on. Also contact WorkPermit.com, they have a scheme whereby they examine your qualifications and issue a certificate to potential UK employers. The market is so bad now that going through the conventional routes will take you nowhere. [ October 09, 2002: Message edited by: TNAVON ] -------------------- ----------------------------------- |
bercham Junior Member Member # 4949 | Posted October 09, 2002 03:31 PM Hi Tnavon, Are you sure, UK job market is very bad right now. do you have any proof saying that?because , i am not trying to disbelief you, but you should give formal statement.at least links to website that support your statement. everyone here in Malaysia says that now is a difficult time to get a job. but for me and all my friends , we got our job soon after our graduation.statement without proofs is rumours. thanks. |
Thorsten von Thyssen Member Member # 4397 | Posted October 09, 2002 03:40 PM You don't need a proof for the obvious. Just open www.ft.com and see that everything is declining. -------------------- ----------------------------------- |
Elisa Member Member # 2487 | Posted October 09, 2002 03:50 PM All you have to do is watch the news every night to see that the world economies are in trouble. Finding international work means education yourself about news and local events in that country if you are really serious about going there. People do find work in bad times but for overseas people when times are tough countries will look to hire locally first before they give a job to a foreigner, that is only natural. |
Joseph Member Member # 184 | Posted October 09, 2002 10:47 PM Bercham, You may have missed my reply to your comment on the other thread where you said: hello Hector ...and I replied: Bercham, You should study the work permit rules and applications process (see www.workpermits.gov.uk) and point out to your company that an Inter Company Transfer is really very easy. Many of us who participate in this forum are perfectly capable of filling out a successful application form for our employer, thus saving in lawyers fees. Workpermit.com can do it also for a relatively low cost on a no-win no-fee basis, right? You may also wish to suggest to your employer that besides taking care of the application (either writing it yourself or paying the fee to workpermit.com) you are willing to forgo a lot of the costs associated with sending you there (i.e. relocation, housing etc.) so that would be a very good deal for them. After all, you are already considering body shops like Oxygen or paying the fee for other potential employers, so why not try the easiest route? Joseph ==== Bercham, Regards, Joseph |
