Hello everyone,
I am in the UK on a Fiance visa.
I am getting registered on 7 December. I will then need to apply for my marriage visa. I am going to apply in person for the marriage visa since I want to be able to work as soon as I can. My questions are:
1. Where do I go to apply ? I am in London.
2. What time should I be there ?
3. What documents will be required ?
4. Does my wife who is a UK national need to be there ?

Any additional information will be very useful.
Thank you,
Himal.

1. Where do I go to apply ? I am in London.
Home Office, Croydon.

2. What time should I be there ?
There are usually long queues from quite early so to apply you may have to get there early. After that you may be given specific dates/times to return.

3. What documents will be required ?
Marriage cert, All Passports, Accomodation evidence, Finance/Support evidence, Evidence of relationship eg mails/letters/communication prior to marriage, Photos of marriage(maybe), Sponsor/spouse letter, Birth certs. That's all I can think of. You may not require all but best to have as much as possible.

4. Does my wife who is a UK national need to be there ?
Not necessarily but it may help.

Check the following UK Visa Web Page For Spouse

How early is early. 6 am alright.

Wont I get the visa on the same date. Why do I have to return some other time.

I'm not sure if you'll have to go there that early but I guess try the following contact first and see what they say. Numbers are from Spouse Visa Advice pages.

I forgot to say that it is unlikely you will get your visas the same day simply because they need to consider your application and all the evidence you present. Especially if they wish to do any backgrond checks or want any further paperwork from you.

My biggest concern is actually working in the UK. The urgency is high for me because I have a few interviews and it's not possible for me to not work for 4-6 weeks.
Can I work if I have a marriage certificate ?
What about the National Insurance No. ? When can I apply for it. I am already in the UK on a fiance Visa. Should I wait till I am married or till I have a marriage visa ?
Thanks for everyone's help.

You may not work or obtain an NI number until after a spouse visa is issued to you.
