I am curious. How would the original poster reciver an 'overstayer stamp' in his passport. If his visa is expired and he boards a flight to his home country UK immigration would not look at his passport before he leaves. Or am I missing something?

I guess since ppt's are valid for 10yrs any attepts to renew ppt, travel out of UK, any visa for trips etc would require presenting the ppt sometimes needing cross referencing with the HO. It's probably a question how much you want to put up with or loose in terms of quality of life. And ofcourse during the time you are in UK as an overstayer there is always the worry about that knock on the door....

When you are caught by Immigration you will be arrested, handcuffed, detained in a Police cell and removed from the UK. You are talking several nights in a cell and then removal. You may spend this time in a police cell or in Immigration Detention with lots of other criminals. If you are really unluckey you may even be held in a mainstream prison. The chances of you ever returnimg to the UK is slim to non-existant....as is the chance of obtaining a visa for EU states, Canada, Australia and the USA.

Go home...it's not worth getting caught.
