Dear everyone who can help, I have been waiting for an answer from Home Office about my self-employment under the EU Association agreement for Bulgarians since 97. That was an application further to my refusal of Asylum in 96. I work, pay taxes, live without any public funds, raise 2 small children and I am fed up of waiting for an answer after being in the UK for 9,5 years. I just found out that "a national from E.Europe may apply for establishment even if he or she has been in the UK unlawfully prior or during the time of application. Why then we still have not been given a status? Is not 7 years in business enough for the HO to make a decision and legalise our stay as people who contribute every day to the British economy?
Please advise if you can help with anything?
Thank you. Sorry for my tone, but I have waited long enough to remain patient.

Hmmm the longest time I heard people waited for Business Visa was 9 months. They might have lost your passport or smth so you should either contact them or find a solicitor whow will do it for you.

Well I'm not a lawyer and that's what you need. How can you be in UK legally and working legally if you were refused asylum? If you are in UK illegally then you have to wait 10 years to apply for legal status if I'm not mistaken.

NO offense to you, but something is not right about your post. I can see waiting a few months without inquiry but 6 years is a bit suspect. I think you need to see an immigration lawyer to get some legal advice as this board doesn't really deal with these kinds of issues.

Dear Doris,

We had a very similar situation. After 9 years (including 4 years of waiting for a decision of our application for self-employment under the EU Association Agreement), we changed the solicitor and got the ILR last year after 11 years all together.

GOOD LUCK

Nelly
