You may wish to review www.monster.com and www.monster.co.uk as a start of potential employers. However note that the IT market in Europe and the US is in pretty bad shape and the good old days when employers would sponsor entry level IT graduates for a Work Permit (UK) or H1 (US) are gone. Infact all my contacts are talking about the offshore indutry which has seen IT outsourced to India and Pakistan - you are where the jobs are coming

Little or no outsourcing to Pakistan. All of it to India. Most IT companies in Pakistan have closed down or are clsoing down.

Gmmi:
Pardon my intrusion, but the accusation of the comments made by studyuk2004 as being racist is quite a flippant remark. Presumably, all that studyuk2004 was attempting at was to give a fairer picture of the prevalent IT market trends in Pakistan. And I have to admit, if Indian IT sector has been able to keep her head above waters in these turbulent times, the credit is undoubtedly due with them on account of their relentless efforts.

Gmmi,
That was not a racist remark by any stretch og imagination. Whatever made you think that way.. Study was only clarifying the situation better from the knowledge he has.

Ladies and gents,

Please lets all relax - I did not mean to start off any aggro. I believe we all agree that IT is being outsourced from the US/ Europe to whichever country thus impacting on IT job opportunities in the US/Europe.

Hi Krishna,

If I were you, I would be thanking god for being in India at the moment.

All IT job prospects are in India now - you can get a job in just no time.

Apply to any IT agency/company in Bangalore and you will be managing a call center in a day or two.

Frankly, there is no IT job in the UK... unless you have some special skills so that you can be self-employed.
But, then again, you can be self-employed in India/Nepal with those skills... there is nothing that UK can add value to your skills/profession at the moment - especially in IT.

regards.

Point taken

Was merely trying to clear the turf incase studyuk2004's remarks were perceived by anyone as being prejudiced. Am not sure if am a pacifist or not, but with well over five decades of a rather gory and confrontational relationship between India and Pakistan, the least we can do is to straighten our acts

Regards.

That was not a racist comment. Indian companies are being favoured when IT contracts are awarded for political reasons. Sorry if you consider it racist.

Gmmi,

Not all but most software houses have closed down. Only a few are left. I am from Pakistan.

studyuk2004:
Think this whole conversation is drifting off course.

But even if most of the tech houses have suffered the brunt in Pakistan, there is whatsoever no reason (infact no justification) to chuck the blame onto the venerable India's IT market. If they've managed to pull it off in such volatile circumstances, then hats off to them, and let it be a lesson to us that hard work always pays.

Regards.

The problem is that nobody, including Indians, wants to take IT jobs in India because they are significantly (5 times) less paid than in UK. Who would want to work for 700 BP per month in IT India with no benefits?
Indians have very well organized the network of consulting agencies and powerful lobby in US IT. Their strong position is mainly due to the network rather than their skills and brains. Indians can cheat and fool naïve Americans – this is their success.

Dear Moderator:
Please pardon my saying so, but I am amazed that comments such as Sasha's still get published.

He/she is time and again trying to rake up the racist storm and I think that that is the only job he/she has.

God only knows what sort of frustration that person has esp against Indians/Pakistanis, but members like me would be happy if the discussion is restricted to how to immigrate to the UK and related issues rather than being a vent for letting out frustration against an individual's incapability to compete against Indians/Pakistanis.

Can you kindly intervene?
Thanks and regards
