I have spent 8 years working in IT sector in USA illegally. I am fed up my situation and the fact that my employer did not want to file for a green card or visa for me. I have not been able to change an employer because nobody wanted to sponsor me under 245-(i). I offered a couple Indian vendors $50,000 for substitution of beneficiary but they refused to adjust my status and get a green card for me because they were racist. It is difficult to look for a job and live while being a slave of one American employer who is happy that I bring him profit and I will never leave him. There is an escape from this frigxxxxng situation which is May 1st 2004. Perhaps this is an example (when both JMF and Marcel76 want/need to leave the USA quickly) where the UK immigration authorities could learn from the USA authorities on how to tighten up inforcement of the immigration and work rules.
