Hi all,
I am moving to UK from USA on HSMP. I am planning to stay as paying guest or to rent an apartment. Does anybody have any idea about the cost of living, which is the best place to land etc.

Thanks

Get ready for a rude awakening. Prices in UK£ in the UK are still about the same as US$ prices in the US (about a 79% difference!).

Thanx for the info Joseph. I am mentally prepared for it. Here in the US I know exactly about the cost of living, places where I can get things for reasonable prices. Only thing I wanted know - what is the best (good if not best) place, in terms of cost of living and opportunities, to land initially in the UK.

Hello Sri,

It depends on which city you are going to stay, are u bringing your family etc.

YMCA, YHA are good places to stay for low cost. There are 100s of BnBs, hotels to stay initially which you can surf on internet.

You can even go for short term renting - say if you are going to stay at one place for initially for 2-3 months. If you have any friends here then you can arrange the things thru them.

I know many guys and it is my experience as well that if you surf net, watch out in local newspapers after you arrive you can sort out residence fairly easily.

Good luck !

Thanx gn. Right now I am not specific about the city, I am looking for job opportunities and cost of living. I am surfing on the net. But, didn't find good deal on apartments. Otherwise, I will stay in a hotel for couple of days and find apartments there itself.

HAPPY NEW YEAR ALL
