Bishop,

ajayxyz saying is correct. Lot of US companies outsourcing projects. Lots of opportunities in UK than US. A question, are you from UK?

This is an immigration website and most people here are trying to come to the UK. So they may not have precise and up to date information about the IT job market in the UK. Check out the forums on following websites. http://www.contractoruk.co.uk http://www.computercontractor.net

There are a lot of British companies moving technology jobs to India not just call centre jobs or BPO. I work for a British firm for the past 4.5 years as a Software
Engineer. In the last year (2003) 30% of our developement projects were done in India by an Indian company. And I am not sure how much will be moving to India this year. 2 years back we have had 20 plus IT ontractors working on many projects apart from the permanent employees like myelf. Today, no contractors left here. Only a few permanent employees. If this trend continue, I fear that I may be made redundant in the near future.

I have been looking for a new job for a few months without any luck. Some jobs you see on the job websites are fake. Agencies post fake job details on their website and collect CVs. You never get response if you send your CV to them or if you pick up the phone and call them they would simply say sorry, that job's gone. We have your CV with us, we will look something for you, blah..blah.. I don't think there are many ICT jobs in the market nowadays. But there are more job seekers and unemployement rate in the ICT sector is quite high in the recent time. I am not optimistic about this situation that it will improve in the new year. This year there is gonna be a flood of HSMP candidates and ICT professionals from Eastern Europe when their country joins EU in May and in addition to this more and more
technology jobs will be moving offshore.

I am an ILR (PR) holder and will be eligible to apply for British Citizenship in a few months time. But what's the point in having ILR and/or citizenship if i can't get a decent job in the field of my interests. I aint here to work in a supermarket or as a waiter in a restaurant. I would perefer returning to India than doing that type of jobs here. That's the reason, I was quite happy to hear that (in another post) companies in India are now offering salary of RS: 60k to 70k per month for software professionals.

studyuk2004, You have pointed to the correct websites.
