I came to the UK on HSMP on 1st Jan.

I found a Job in IT in 10 days :-), as .NET Architect in central london. The pay is also not too bad (GBP 52K)...

the market is always if you are really "highly skilled" haha...

just that after coming here i think australia is a much better place to live. i really am lost thinking as to why i came here!

too bad i just cant even go back now...

And how exactly is Australia better? :-)
My personal opinion is that you can't compare London and Australia...

Madan

is it necessary to have both domain and technical experiecne in UK to get Job?

For example, in order to get a developer job
in financial services, do you need financial and tech experience

Please share your experience.

Thanks

madankumar

you are one of the lucky guys who got a job quite easily and also you have an Australian working experience.

Not all are lucky. there have been quite a few cases who have come to the UK to work in the IT industry and end up doing all sorts of other work or are totally frustated at the lack of response from the agencies.

I don't want to encourage or discourage anybody from coming the UK but as mentioned by ajay, secure yourself before coming to the UK.

I have met several Indian and Pakistani software engineers and MCS's who either fill shelves in super markets or clean dishes. All of them tell back home that they are working as IT professionals.
MadanKumars seems to be one too. I may be wrong but our desi people have a tendency of talking big.
No offence intended. There is nothing wrong with working hard but one should never lie.

Good explanation studyuk2004. There may be some people doing like that. You said you met several people working like that, you didn't mention that you met all Indians or others and all are working in supermarkets. Let's hope madankumar is not one among the people you already met.
BTW, are you a student or working the UK?

for tech...

mate it is not just enough to be a generic programmer anymore.

you have to specialise in some vertical industry or in a core technology area. only then you can even think of looking for work in the IT Industry. otherwise stick on to your job!
