Kayalami Member Member # 5984 | Posted February 17, 2004 06:45 PM Looks good to me...what's 30 for ? -------------------- ---audi alteram partem--- |
MelyniB Junior Member Member # 7606 | Posted February 17, 2004 06:47 PM projected expenses shows...housing, food, transportation by train to london from peterborough. 30 shows the train expense. ps: thanks for responding. |
Kayalami Member Member # 5984 | Posted February 17, 2004 06:50 PM makes sense on first impressions appears to be a thorough application with substantial evidence which HSMP requires. Perhaps a personal Q - why the move to UK (assuming fiance a UK national?) and not wanting to go down the spouse route as yet. -------------------- ---audi alteram partem--- |
MelyniB Junior Member Member # 7606 | Posted February 17, 2004 06:53 PM fiance is a uk national. and we could get married first. however, we'd rather not have our marriage be directed/influenced by a need/desire to work...i'd like to have a little romance. and get married when we want to get married. :-) [ February 17, 2004: Message edited by: MelyniB ] |
Kayalami Member Member # 5984 | Posted February 17, 2004 07:01 PM a sound principle indeed and covers Q on such from ECO who might ask about fiance out of curiosity. Best wishes for your application to proceed smoothly despite the current backlog and drop in the greenbuck. Last Q - are you in the sub 28 category? -------------------- ---audi alteram partem--- |
MelyniB Junior Member Member # 7606 | Posted February 17, 2004 07:02 PM no. i'm 32. thanks for the well wishes and the heads up on the fiance thing. |
Cosmopol Member Member # 7165 | Posted February 17, 2004 07:36 PM Not to raise concerns, but... I wonder if ECO's next question may be whether the intent to settle in the UK is genuine / independent versus fiance-driven. I.e., given a chance (not that it should happen, but out of formal reasons) that the marriage doesn't happen, would you still live in the UK or get back across the pond? Not sure if it's even important, but thought I'd raise this in the spirit of the previous few posts. |
MelyniB Junior Member Member # 7606 | Posted February 17, 2004 07:40 PM It's a good point and I did wonder about that myself. I included commentary/evidence regarding a lifelong history of international interest/exposure... Rotary International Exchange Student to India in 1987-1988. International Business major in college Work experience in Tampico, Mexico Language school in Caracas, Venezuela Personal travel, etc. I think that it's 50/50. Either it helps me b/c I have an anchor/established accommodations, etc there. Or, it hurts me for the reasons you put forth. I figured that, at the end of the day...I should be honest. If I don't get it...then we move on to plan b and I move after we marry. It's not our preference, and hopefully it won't come to that, but we'll do what we have to. What are your thoughts? |
Cosmopol Member Member # 7165 | Posted February 17, 2004 10:02 PM Sounds quite reasonable to me! One other point to consider: all the talk above is about "finer", intangible aspects of your application / interview. The primary and most important point is that you are legally making a straightforward application for an immigrant-type visa, stating that TODAY you fully intend to settle in the UK. There are simply no formal grounds to reject your application, and it's so highly unlikely that a consulate officer will give you trouble based on "IF"s. Full speed ahead, and good luck! |
