Hi Everyone:

After a hectic 4 weeks, I have finally landed in London yesterday.

For those who have got their EC and are about to land here...just a small tip. At the airport, they ask you if you have a recent chest x-ray. Carry one with you if you can, otherwise there could be delay of an hour or so (depending on the crowd at the time of your landing).

Subbukwt , on which airport have you landed? do you think it depends on the airport or location that you come from? Thanks

Well done - happy UK'ing....also do they select you at random or is it everyone doing the X-Ray exercise? Further, do they do on-site medical testing??

Well as far as I know, they do ask for medical when you are going to stay longer then a normal visitor. I have had the same when I landed on work permit in UK.

So, its good to have it in hand so as to save time. Otherwise que might be longer and also you have to show your tummy as well.

when I landed in Heathrow I was told by the lady at the medical room..."we'll send you a letter to your home. take it to NHS and get an X-Ray done. NHS will then send it to Home Office."

I believe this was because the person incharge for doing the X-Ray was not there (it was the New Year's day 1-1-04).

Till today I havent received any letter.

Also the lady was quite rude and was complaining that I must have already known about the Chest X-Ray and that how people like me were a burden on Tax Payers (by coming here without proper docs, and getting the X-Ray done in Britain at NHS).

I shot back saying "Excuse me! I am going to pay tax too...infact I'm going to pay taxes and not receive any benefits out public funds" and stormed out//

MK,
Print one for yourself.

Dip,
you are so funny. Do you live on workpermit.com bbs permanently? Why dont you find a job in the super market near your "shared" room?
I am sure they have places for shelf-fillers and cleaners.

In the past some of my posts did quiten you but this time I will not say anything to keep you away cause I live with a hope that someday you will say something intelligent... .if nothing it atleast makes my life longer

And yes, thank for letting us know the supermarket vacancies...once again wonder how you know!!!But keep up the good work.

Sorry Jay ... didnt notice your reply while posting...

Actually I find him incorrigibly tenacious. On the brighter side, when he is talking we can atleast give our brains the much needed rest.

Just my thought on madan....

I would think it would be good to keep madan on the list. I see very hopeful and optimism among people here and its good. But not everything is perfect and it would be a good idea to prepare oneself better for what pinches when we move there.
