Correct me if I am wrong, but it appears from recent postings that now the originals are returned separately from the decision letter some time before the decision letter is sent?

I have a friend with the same case and I read the postings also so yes it appears that this is it now.
Cheers

I wonder if this new procedure is part of what the team is doing to deal with the unexpected increase in the number of applications. Perhaps they photocopy whatever they need when a caseworker is assigned, send back the originals and set the decision-making machine in motion. When they arrive at a decision it is communicated. Any other ideas/viewpoints/guesses?

Well, I sent my application on Jan 2 (from outside the UK, over 28 application), but haven't recieved the originals, or anything else for that matter, back.
