MelyniB Junior Member Member # 7606 | Posted March 02, 2004 08:42 PM This may be a stupid question, but..I'll bite. If the Home Office doesn't contact you/encourage that you contact them prior to delivering their verdict...how do you know/find out what your reference number is? and...what does it matter (other than to to tell you where you stand in the queue)? |
Chess Member Member # 7233 | Posted March 02, 2004 09:20 PM Mel, You may contact the HSMP team/HO and they will give you your reference number, but thats all.... having your reference number may be helpful if you phone them again in future - but as you said it wont make any difference,.. ...apart from telling you about the length of the queue!!! another issue is that by constantly phoning/e-mailing, you run the risk of 'pissing' them off (i.e getting your butt kicked) -------------------- .........Nkosi sikelele Africa |
Dip Member Member # 4428 | Posted March 03, 2004 08:22 AM Quite a change from the good old days! I remember when I called (Oct/Nov 2002) the concerned staff actually discussed my case and requested for an additional document. Even the decision was made known on the phone. Turnaround was less than a week including returning of documents. Probably the deluge of applications must have resulted in the tougher stand. Cheers |
JayGee Member Member # 7446 | Posted March 04, 2004 05:04 PM I believe with a little social engineering one can arguably get more information from HO than just simply the ref number - and here I thought we are talking highly skilled...ha ha ha |
