Just want to share my experience and welcome others with similiar situation to share their views.

I have sent my application (over 28, outside UK) and received on Feb 16. In fact, I get a job offer and I have included the job offer copy with my application.

I am so naive that I only found out it takes 6-8 weeks for the process last week, when I do not have any reply from them.

I phoned them after at least 30 minutes trial as the phone is persistently engaged. Finally I get the line in and they told me that even I get a job offer which is going to start in mid May, I need to wait for 4 weeks from the date they receive my application - i.e. March 16th and they will start to consider it for urgent treatment - this is stated in their web page you can fax to them if you have an urgency with a inminent job start date.

I hope it will not be too long as I am leaving to UK in early May - only 8 weeks to go but no visa yet.

Any further advise to this poor guy?

At least they are willing to expedite your application - nothing else you can do apart from sit tight. You are likely to get HSMP approval if everything else adds up and the UK job is in your designated occupation. You may wish to use the time till then collecting the various documents required for HSMP visa application and familiarising yourself with the VAF 1 UK visa application form. You may also wish to update you employer on your anticipated arrival date.

Good Luck
