I am a US citizen seeking work in Europe.
I applied for work in the Netherlands.
Many companies said they cannot interview me until I have a work permit and that I should contact them once I have obtained it.

Are there any Relocation agencies in NL that can provide a work permit for me, as a service? Perhaps the agency can prepare a work permit based on being an independant consultant. As long as the permit can be used for future employers, I am flexible.

Hi there,
I am also seeking employment in Germany, however ..the research I have done says you must obtain work first, then the company applies for the work permit. Workpermit.com offers that choice to employers that dont want all the red tape problems. The message I posted is to find out what companies in the area I will reside hires americans, and how to contact them. How did you attain your job in NL?

HI Jeannie

Thanks for the explanation of how we can get around the bureaucracies of applying for European work permits But both of you are right, you need a job offer before you can get a work permit for most all European countries. In the case of the Netherlands, Rob, there are some contracting firms who may be able to apply for a work permit on your behalf if you are a highly-skilled IT Professional. You might be able to start your own business by approaching the local Chamber of Commerce in the Netherlands as well. If you are interested in the sponsorship option as an IT Professional, please e-mail me on netherlands@workpermit.com

Hope this helps!
