Carolyn Junior Member Member # 2164 | Posted February 21, 2002 02:26 PM Hello, I am a U.S. citizen currently living in the U.S. and my boyfriend is a Swedish citizen working in the Netherlands. Since I am the partner of a EEA national I know I am allowed to live in the Netherlands, but I'm not sure about obtaining work. Would I have to go through the same procedures of obtaining a work permit as any other non-EEA national, or would I automatically get a work permit since I am the partner of a EEA national? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you. Carolyn [ February 21, 2002: Message edited by: Carolyn ] |
Elfa Member Member # 5 | Posted February 26, 2002 02:27 PM Hi Carolyn If you can prove you are the partner of an EEA national, then you should both be able to work in the Netherlands as long as you can prove that your partner is working there. You will need to apply for a residence card, which should grant you the right to work automatically. I am not entirely certain that NL acknowledges partner de facto relationships to the extent that Sweden does, but it is worth a shot as I think they are rather liberal when it comes to these things. Hope this helps! Elfa -------------------- Elfa Kere, Consultant |
