robby Junior Member Member # 2346 | Posted March 05, 2002 07:42 AM My wife is a German citizen living with me in the US, and we plan to move to Germany in December. DOes anyone have any suggestions about, or know how to obtain a work permit or EU passport under these circumstances? |
Marcis Member Member # 4 | Posted March 06, 2002 07:11 AM Hi, As the spouse of a German citizen, you may apply for a German work permit & German residency even without a job offer by a German company. Just go to the local Arbeitsamt (labor office) where you will live in Germany, and you wil get your work permit. Marcis Gobins -------------------- Marcis Gobins, Consultant |

EuroCitizen Member Member # 2023 | Posted March 12, 2002 08:57 PM Robby, the workpermit is only good for Germany You would have to become a German citizen in order to be able to work anywhere else. However, if your wife would settle down in lets say England, you would also be able to work there. She hast to claim you as a dependant of an EEA citizen (which she is). To put this straight. You can work, wherever you and your wife decide to permanently live. But as long as she lives in Germany you can not just go and work in lets say France. BTW: Where in SD do you live. I'm up in the Carlsbad/O'side area. But I'm moving to London in June. |
