I am Atit Chopra currently studing in UK, problem i am facing is that i am finding it tough to get the Job in UK although i am doing MSc Managing Information Technology but still i finding it difficult to get the job.
The problem is that employers ask for work permit and being non-EU national i can't get hold of it myself. Govt of UK doesn't allow non-EU nationals to get the work permit themselves. This situation is making me very tensed, the main matter of worry is that i have spend three times the fee as compared to the home student if still i can't get a job in this country then it is pointless to study in UK. Can anyone guide me in this matter please.

Dear Atit Chopra,

Most people from the third world countries think they will get a job once they finish their study from an institution of higher learning in a Western country. Thats not true.
The main purpose of the Universities and foreign governments when they admit foreigners is to get their money. They do not intend to provide them with a job. Education is an industry for them which attracts billions of dollars and pounds every year.
I was in a similar situation a few years back. I finally did manage to find a job but that was a lot inferior to what a local of same qualification would have found. Finding that job was a nightmare too. Keeping that job required me to work harder.
Now I regret wasting so much money and some of the best years of my life on studying.
My advice is, if you are an immigrant, think of starting your own business. These shortage skills jobs will not get you any where in life. Any business is better than serving some boss. You seem to be a fairly educated person, you can think of some reasonable business.

Well thank you for your reply, but thing is any business requires lot of investment and i can't really afford to do it at this point of time. My aim was to study and get a decent job, where as it is not looking very fisible at the moment.

I would like to explain to UK govt that people who are educated enough and wish to work in UK will be beneficiary for the UK govt, because the amount of taxes they will be paying will contribute to the economic growth of the country.

Anyone agreees with me?

Hi Atit.

I’m sorry to read disgruntled opinions like Jobseeker’s.

I understand your despair at not being able to secure a job but you have to keep in mind that these are difficult times for everybody and that you’re competing not only vs. local applicant but vs. a lot of overseas ones too, as the UK is one of the main magnets for immigrants.

Studying is always worth it. Its rewards go well beyond money; it allows you to progress your career by giving you access to otherwise inaccessible opportunities.

Be patient, stick to your studies and you’ll see that you’ll get a job once the market improves. Good luck.

No offence to Hector. Everyone has their own opinion. May be Hector can name 10 CEOs of Tech companies (not to mention other ones) that have a Ph.D.
Enter the real world.
Besides you dont need a million dollars to start a new business. You just need the same money you spend on your international education and the right attitude.

Most IT pros do not have any university education at all and they are at the top of the ladder.

As regards any government's views about immigration, they are more motivated by the voters of their countries than giving jobs to people from other countries. Most people of any country dislike the idea of immigration.

Any way its your choice. I just tried to give you a crash course in Real World.

Hi Atit,
Like you I experienced the same situation in Austria, but the best thing to do, is to be a familiar to others in England who are immigrants and don't know their way around yet. In your case I mean people who like you have come from the same country as you did. You can put an ad in the local paper advertising that for a small fee say 50 Pound a day, you can show them around and therefore make them feel a little more comfortable in their new surroundings. I plan on doing that to finance my racing career in Austria and though the laws are different in the UK, you could probably still do the same. In Austria you have to get a business permit, but in the UK you could do this without one. I hope I could be of help to you. From one immigrant to another, keep at it and eventually with perserverance and resourcefulness, you will get where you want to be.

I am sure Philip meant 50 pence per day.
