Do you have to have a work permit AND work for three full years in the Netherlands in order to get the permanent work permit?

is this under a condition of the contract with employer?

for example if one got a working permit for a year, would be possible to extend the visa as long as there's a contract with the employer, if so, would that be a long process?

Hi Ube,

You'll find a lot of info for your question on www.expatica.com -> Netherlands.

Check the 'Relocation' and 'Discussion Forum' sections.

re: expatica web site

you can only enter the discussion forums at expatica.com if you are an HR professional, i.e. a potential employer, not employee, unfortunately.

HI Ube

In response to your question, yes, you must have a contract with an employer and if the contract is for a year, your work permit would be for one year. It is possible to extend the work permit if your contract of employment is extended with the employer. The extension process can take up to 5 weeks.
