Hi all,

I wish to move to Switzerland. Am an IT engineer with a very good skills base.

I have certain questions:
1. How difficult (or easy) is it to get into Switzerland ?
2. Is it easy for companies to get work permits for outsiders?
3. How is the IT job market scene coming along?

Many many thanks in advance !!

Hi,

On 1 May 2002, a new Agreement between the European Community and its Member States and the Swiss Confederation on the Free Movement of Persons has entered into force. (I suggest you read our related news article on http://www.workpermit.com/news/uk22.htm.) This means that EU nationals will now get their Swiss work permit applications approved almost automatically; on the other hand, it will become much tougher on non-EU nationals to get their Swiss work permit applications approved. You may have heard that it was already tough before, so now it's gonna be tougher than tough, I guess.

Sorry if this disappoints you. Anyways, at least they still accept work permit applications, which presumably means that there is still a chance to get them approved ...

Regards,

Marcis
