Hi!

The Italian Government is yet to approve the regional work permit quotas for the year 2002, which are normally approved in the beginning of the year. This means that for the time being Italian work permits can only be obtained under very limited circumstances, for example, if you are being transferred to the Italian branch of the same company that you are working for at the moment.

A new Immigration Law is currently under debate in the Italian Parliament. The Italian Government has declared that the annual quota for the year 2002 will not be approved until the New Law has come into force.

Hi Marcis, can you expound on some of the specifics on the proposed Italian immigration law? Will it make things easier or harder for skilled migrants? It seems the Europe-wide trend is to make things easier for skilled migrants while clamping down on asylum seekers.
