sapf Junior Member Member # 3675 | Posted May 31, 2002 03:32 PM We are struggling with the Spanish embassy to get a temporary residency visa. They say the process may take up to four months. We had planned to leave in August. I was told that we might consider getting our visa from one of the other Shengan countries and that then we could use that for our 10 month stay in Spain. Is that true? Which countries might have a quicker process. We are seeking a nonlucrative type visa...really an extended stay for tourism. Thanks. -------------------- sapf |

Marcis Member Member # 4 | Posted May 31, 2002 04:11 PM Hi, As Americans, you may visit the Schengen area countries as tourists up to three months visa free. However, to stay longer, you would require a residence permit which is really not that easy to obtain. You would need to show a reason why you're staying longer, usually this would have to be for work. I do not believe any Schengen country will grant you a visa that easily for 10 months if you're not going over there for work.
