Hello, ladies and gentlemen, hello Marcis!

Can anybody clarify, whether or not must person have an annual salary above 79 200 Euros to qualify under the category of “highly skilled employees”, which is foreseen by the new immigration law?

Will be any difference between specialists, who are applying from abroad with signed contract, and somebody who is working already in Germany since 1,5 year?

I ask the second question, since i am already legally employed in Germany by one of the biggest German companies.

Any information would be much appreciated,
Best regards.

Hi Valentine,

Yes, to qualify for the "highly skilled immigrant" status, you will need to have a job offer with a salary level of at least two times the level where they would pay the maximum contribution for health insurance as required under German law. Right now, that would be 79,200 Euros.

As to your other question, there will be no disadvantage to someone like you who is already in Germany, as compared to a new immigrant.

I hope this helps.

Hello , Marcis!
Thanks indeed for your reply.

Actually, my question was as follows:
Are there (will be there) some advantages in terms of gaining the permanent residency under the new German immigration law for specialists, who are already working in Germany under the Green Card program?
For example, could the requirement of minimum salary of 79200 Euros be waived for those specialists, who are applying from within Germany, and working here on the basis of permanent contract?
Thanks in advance for your reply.
