Rich Winklesky Junior Member Member # 4125	Posted June 28, 2002 04:36 PM Hi, How do I find out what rules apply to me as both a tourist, and as an immigrant in light of the fact that I spend 1 1/2 years in Germany, and founded a GMBH business with an associate? I own the GMBH, so are the laws more lenient, as I'm really no longer a tourist if I own a business there, right? Bottom line, can I stay there longer than 3 months per year, because I own a business? How do I get whatever paperwork I need to support this stay? Thanks

Rich Winklesky Junior Member Member # 4125	Posted July 02, 2002 07:20 PM Hi Ralf, Unfortunately I and my associate had to go through an attorney there, who handled everything. I am a citizen of the US, and he a citizen of Germany, which I'm assuming helped the situation. The business is a samll import/export business, so we didn't have a lot of assets, but we did have to fill out all of the German paperwork necessary to pull this off. I'm sorry, I can't be of more "free" help here, I'm assuming if you need/want to do this, legal counsel is needed. Regards, Rich
