I'm living in the united states right now, wanting to move to the netherlands eventually, but do not have a profession or a job. which country would be easiest to establish residency in (in europe) for a while until i can get things sorted out to live where i want to? or what would be the best way to go about moving to the netherlands?

There is no way without a profession or education I'm afraid. The reality is that unless you have are highly educated and have a unique skill or one that is on a shortage list you have no hopes of getting into any EU country. Even those of us with education and skills are finding it difficult.

Your only other option is to marry someone from there or if you have family there might help you.

it will all depend on what nationality you have.

Depends on what kind of national you are. In Ireland it is easy enough to get in and stay here if you are a white caucasian. But it really depends. Do you have american nationality? If so, it shouldn't be a problem.

So you say it depends on what your nationality is huh, what if your an American but happen to be half Black/White like myself? Because I have the same concern about Denmark, I would like to move there but I don't specialize in any computer related field. Is there anyway possible for an American to find any kind of work out there or a sponsorship program for students who want to come to Europe for school?

Well I dont' think being a certain race is any help at all. I spent time in Ireland this spring and I met alot of people trying to find work there and they were 'white' and were not having any luck at all so I dont' think that matters. The economy is not very good right now over and the Celtic Tiger has bottomed out so it's not as dynamic as it was say 2 years ago. During times of economic stress countries will look after their own citizens first before they give jobs to foreigners, has nothing to do with race it's just common sense.

As for sponsorship you'd have to check in your own country for that. European schools won't sponsor you as you aren't a tax payer there but your own country might offer overseas programs however it's usually based on who has the highest marks.

I too, am interrested in moving to Holland. I am curious to know where I can the careers that are in shortage. I posess a MOUS (microsoft office user specialist) certification and CHDP (certified help desk professional). My boyfriend also has CHDP along with A+ and Net+ certification. Does anyone know if these skills are in demand? Also, how difficult is it for 2 non-married native americans to gain employment access/visas in the netherlands/Holland. I have read on another site that sometimes it varies depending on exactly where you want to live.

thank you
