Happy New Year everyone!

Just recently, I've learned from a source in Ireland that a local news issue-Irish Independent dated Jan.5'04 has published among its pages (thru columnist Mr. Eugene Moloney) that there is move as announced by DETE Minister Mary Harmey to issue special work permits to professional, qualified spouses of foreign or overseas Registered Nurses working in the Republic of Ireland.

Accordingly, among the underlying reasons is the fear of the Irish gov't. of increasing out-bound migration of married foreign nurses (who have non-healthcare professional spouses ) to seek employment elsewhere in either US, UK or Australia who have more liberal immigration and work permit policies to migrating foreign nationals especially in the healthcare field seeking jobs or permanent residency status.

Can anyone pls. verify this information and the real story behind it? If this is true, can anyone provide other credible sources where I can inquire or verify too.

Many thanks.
