I was told that as a tourist you are permitted to drive in Aus with a UK licence but once you become a resident you must be hold a Australian licence.
If true it must cause real problems.
Any ideas.

Hi Marcus

You can drive on an International Driving license for up to six months I believe in Australia. Then you need to apply for an Australian driver's license. I don't think this causes major problems as one simply contacts the relevant transport agency and needs to pass a driving test once a permanent resident. I think that one would want to have an Australian driver's license anyone once settled in Australia.
