I am a doctor, considering emigration to NewZealand from the UK. How long does the process take? Would I be better placed to get a job for a year in NewZealand and then go through the application process? or apply directly from the UK? Help and comments would be much appreciated!

HI Julian

You need to register and license yourself as a doctor in New Zealand if you wish to emigrate as a Skilled immigrant. As long as you pass the points test, you should have a good chance to migrate under the skills category.

Please be advised that if you are interested in an initial assessment on
immigration to New Zealand, you should complete our Immigration Appraisal Form
available on our website at http://www.workpermit.com/new_zealand/employee6.htm.
If you have a CV on hand it may be more convenient for you to provide much of
the information in CV format (in Rich Text (*.rtf) or Plain Text (*.txt) Format,
please) and send this to me at nzvisa@workpermit.com in addition to filling out the on-line form.
As soon as we receive the above-mentioned details, you will be provided a complete
initial assessment on your ability to migrate to New Zealand.

I hope this has been helpful and I look forward to your response.

All the best.

Elfa
