balu Member Member # 1018 | Posted December 11, 2001 08:58 AM I am an Indian interested in migration to Newzeland. I have more than 3 years of experience in the field of Information technology (computer software). However I do not have a relevant computer qualification. I have completed 3 years full time Engineering Diploma in Electronics. I have got the following information from official NZ site to get 10 points for the qualification. (http://www.immigration.govt.nz/migration/) * have a minimum of 3 years' full-time work experience in your field of specialisation (this experience must not be counted towards points for work experience); and * can provide evidence of some formal training in your area of specialisation; and * hold a letter of support issued by the Information Technology Association of New Zealand (ITANZ), confirming that your skills are in short supply in New Zealand; and hold an offer of employment in that particular field of specialisation My doubt is as follows. I have more than 3 years of work experience in the IT field. Do I need to get assessed by ITANZ confirming my skills to get 10 points for the qualification or should i apply for NZQA assesment or should i apply for both ITANZ and NZQA? Please confirm. Thanks and Regards, |
Elfa Member Member # 5 | Posted December 11, 2001 05:44 PM HI You would not need to get a "qualifications assessment" from ITANZ - you would actually only need a letter from them confirming that your IT skills are in demand in New Zealand. You would also need at least an additional 2 years of work experience in your field (since the first three years would not count towards your points score), and you would need to hold a job offer in New Zealand prior to migrating. You may or may not need an NZQA assessment - the migration authorities will realise that your qualifications (that may already be worth 10 points) are not related to your work experience in which case you will need a job offer. Since you are working in IT but do not have IT qualifications, then you can score 10 points qualifications by meeting all of those factors (additional work experience, ITANZ letter, job offer, some other IT training). So for either approach, you would need a job offer. Please let me know if you have any further questions. Best regards Elfa -------------------- Elfa Kere, Consultant |
balu Member Member # 1018 | Posted December 12, 2001 05:27 AM Elfa, Thank you very much for your reply. In your reply, you have not mentioned any thing about NZQA. Can you please let me know what is the procedure for immigration to Newzeland if i do not hold a job offer? Thanks and Regards, |
balu Member Member # 1018 | Posted December 12, 2001 05:38 AM Hi Elfa, I have missed to inform you that i do have more than 7 years of work experience(all full time). Out of them only 3 years are related to pure software and 4 years in other fields. Thats the reason i mentioned as 3 years experience in the field of IT. I am sure now you will be able to answer my question. Thanks and Regards, |
