Hi

We are curently in a process of preparing the documentaton for Australian Immigration (Skilled Independent). Both my wife and I are IT proffesionals. I have 11 years of experience and the most recent one is from USA where I am working on H1B visa. She just completed her degree and doesn't have any work experience. Besides that I have about 3 years of experience in IT areas that are identified as MOTD. In order to make this procedure as quick as possible we where thinking of getting our medical examination done while we are waiting for the skill assesment results and to send it together with our Visa Application. Does this make any sence? If it takes 4-6 months to make a decision about our visa, they have to send us a request to take a medical exam during this time. If they already have it together with the application that will save us considerable time.
The other question is regarding my wife's degree. She has exactly the same degree as me but no experience. Was it worth to pay for her assesment as well?

Thanks

Hi Laslos

I would recommend NOT obtaining the medical exams until the DIMA Adelaide requests them, especially since lately they have been sending medical request letters out shortly (i.e. one or two weeks) after the confirmation of receipt letters (if not together with it!) for IT Professionals.

It will not save you a considerable amount of time if you send the medical reports together with your application, really.

I don't think it was worth sending your wife's qualifications in to the ACS since she doesn't have any experience. She would need to have at least one year of recent work experience in order for you to obtain points for spouse skills.

Hope this helps!
