palsel Junior Member Member # 1949 | Posted February 07, 2002 12:19 PM I am an Graduate in Engineering (Bharathiar University , India) with IT as minor subject. Further I do have 2+ experience in IT and have undergone java programming training. But ACS skills assessment guide says that graduates with IT as minor should have 4 years experience. What is my way out? [ February 07, 2002: Message edited by: palsel ] -------------------- palsel |

Hope this Helps, Regards |
palsel Junior Member Member # 1949 | Posted February 07, 2002 12:52 PM Ya dotcom1, I do have some supporting training certificates, articles published etc. But can v apply with 2+ years experience alone. Or else v need to file RPL forms which I suppose for non IT degree which has no major/minor in course. -------------------- palsel |

Elfa Member Member # 5 | Posted February 08, 2002 03:16 PM Sorry, guys. You will need to have at least FOUR YEARS of relevant IT work experience if your degree had a minor in IT. Furthermore, if you go for the RPL then you will need "usually five years" of relevant IT work experience in order to have a decent chance of being successful. palsel Junior Member Member # 1949 | Posted February 09, 2002 08:27 AM Thanks Elfa, If I have 1.5 years experience before degree with IT as minor and 2.5 years experience after degree. Does it count as overall 4 years experience in IT? If its valid I am safe then. Elfa hope u can help me. -------------------- palsel |
Elfa Member Member # 5 | Posted February 15, 2002 02:41 PM HI Yes, this should all count as long as it was full-time work experience and directly related to your degree. HOwever, the ACS may determine that you only qualify as an IT Professional from the time you completed your degree, which may affect your points score (if you are claiming points for specific work experience). best regards Elfa -------------------- Elfa Kere, Consultant |
