Original Degree Certificate?

Post by virgoguy » Fri Aug 17, 2007 12:46 pm

Dear Group Members,

I had a small question about the degree certificate. Do we need to send any marksheets also along with the degree (convocation) certificate?

Thanks in Advance

If you have your degree certificate (convocation), then there is no need to send the mark sheets.

Diplomas in Frames

Post by purplepple » Sat Aug 18, 2007 5:02 pm

For those whose diplomas are laminated/framed, did you have to destroy the frames just to send the certificates only? Or you sent the certificates together with the frames?

Mine are framed and I don't want to destroy the frames. It is quite bulky to send to HO though.

i think you had better take it to an expert and get the certificate detached from the frame. The hsmp team will want to ensure that the certificate is valid and original, so if they cannot access it (ie. touch it), they may think you are trying to conceal something. so advisable to detach it from the frame. If it is laminated, don't worry, as i have sent a laminated one, and they accepted it.
good luck.

Maiden Name to Married Name

Post by purplepple » Sat Aug 18, 2007 5:33 pm

For those who changed their surname due to marriage, did you also submit a marriage certificate?

In my case, some of my documents are under my maiden name while some are under my married name as I have just recently gotten married. Do you think HO will require the marriage certificate?

Won't they just call my university to check if I indeed graduated from that university?

The frames were made 9 years ago and I'm afraid the certificates will be damaged if the frames are destroyed.

They might do but. They do not have to do this. Your case will be based on the evidence U provide. SO if U do not provide Degree certifiate then U will not get point on education

I suggest you seek an expert on photo framing and laminations to get the certificate out. You may have to shop around, but there will be some firm out there who will be able to do the detachment. They may be expensive, but you need to balance this against the need for your visa.

The HSMP team have a lot of applications to look through, so if you do not make it easy for them to feel and inspect your certificate for authenticity, you are making your chances hard.

Good luck.

I agree with this. It is the applicant responsibility to make his case thorough and straight forward to reach decision

I emailed Customer Service for HSMP and this is their reply:

If you wish to send your certificates in frames there would normally be no problem providing we can still validate them, however we can not guarantee damage due to the postal system.
