India tourist visa - appointment query

Post by ps1234 » Thu Jan 13, 2022 3:29 pm

Hi all,

We have just applied for surrender of our Indian passports. We need to travel to India in Feb for a wedding, so there will not be enough time to apply for an OCI. We are hence applying for tourist visas for this trip.

I went to the VFS website and filled out the application. After filling out and registering the applications, there is a link to book appointment. When I click on it, it gives me an internal server error. So I am unable to book an appointment using this and pay for it.

I was however able to book appointments separately using the HCI London Appointments page under the 'Visa' category.

Has anyone faced a similar issue? Would it be ok to show up to the appointment booked separately, with my registered application and then pay at the appointment? Or will I be asked to pay and book through the VFS system (which is consistently giving an internal server error)?

thanks!

Though I havent experienced the same but you may apply for e tourist visa here.
https://indianvisaonline.gov.in/evisa/tvoa.html
https://www.hcilondon.gov.in/page/lates ... rist-visa/

Second link is bit confusing, though it only means e-Visa issued before Oct 6 2021 is suspended.

Currently, e-Visa is suspended till further notice.
The first link will take you to apply for "Indian e-Visa".
However, "UK" option is not available in Nationality drop down option.

@ps1234,
I'm also in the same boat but not able to find the link to apply for tourist visa.
how did you apply for tourist visa?
Could you share the link please ?
Thanks,

Hi, are you getting the same 'Internal server 500 error' after filling out the tourist visa application? Here are the links for tourist visa and for a separate booking of the appointment (not following through from the tourist visa application directly):

https://indianvisaonline.gov.in/visa/index.html - click on 'regular/paper visa application' at the bottom left.

I used this link to apply for the paper visa. At the end of the registration of the application, there is a button to book appointment and pay. This does not seem to be working and keeps giving an internal server error. I have separately booked a Visa appointment in London through the HCI/Appointments page - any idea if they will accept my visa application (registered online but not paid for as per instructions) and let me pay there..?

Sorry couldn't reply you on time. I have submitted my OCI yesterday but don't know when I will receive it. VFS will charge the money in the center. I don't think you need to pay online as I did the same for my OCI.
I am planning to apply for tourist visa asap as I don't think I will receive OCI before my travel date next month. Haven't filled the form yet. while checking the online form, found one option Nationality/Region. What did you enter for this dropdown. I assume it will be "UK BRITISH OVERSEES CITIZEN". I have attached the options available. Could you please check and reply ? Thanks.

Hello, sorry I didnt see this earlier. You just need to choose 'UK British citizen - not overseas. The overseas bit refers to people from places like Hong Kong.

I had my tourist visa appointment yesterday - dates are available in London with a lag of 1 week.
