OCI Acknowledgement

Post by Showy » Tue Aug 27, 2013 6:54 pm

Hi

Applied for the wife's OCI on the 16th July via post to London, all documents reached the next day... surrender cert was returned on the 23rd July but still no acknowledgement?? reading other posts I would have thought the acknowledgement would have been done within 4 weeks, anyone else waiting for acknowledgement from London and want to know if the acknowledgement is sent via post or you just check the 'Forgot application number' link on the website...

Any info would be appreciated...

Thanks

Hi, how did you get the surrender certificate? Have you included any special delivery envelope along with your application? I have sent my postal application on 16th Aug., still havent got my surrender certificate/acknowledgement. Also, unable to check the status, as it is showing 'No Records Found'

Are You guys tracking correctly, and not repeating the mistake I was doing, use the no. provided while filling up the form as ' Online refertence No.' and track it again.
Normally acknowledgement is very fast.

Yes, I did add a SDE with the application, sent the original Surrender Cert, Naturalisation cert and Indian Passport (just to be safe) and all 3 returned 7 days later...but no acknowledgement...yet

OCI Birmingham timeline

Post by remki » Wed Aug 28, 2013 7:41 pm

We have booked to travel India on 10th September. The OCI has not received yet. The status shows its dispatched from India on 14th August. We have submitted in Birmingham, if the OCI arrives this week, can we get the visa affixed passport along with OCI card on the same day service from Birmingham embassy.

Or if we have to travel to India and didn't receive the OCI, can we get a visa immediately for travel.

It would be really great if any of you could give some thoughts on this.

Thanks, We have received OCI acknowledgement in Birmingham (30/08/2013) this has been dispatched from India on 14th August 2013. However, we have applied for a Tourist Visa today morning and the acknowledgment updated the site in the afternoon. We cannot cancel the Tourist visa as we have already submitted in the morning. We cannot get OCI with out the passport :(. So we decided to go to India through Tourist visa and get the OCI after we back from holidays.

after 10 days, the status website started showing under process
so keep calm, if you have not heard anything, its under process :)

Collection of OCI from HCI London

Post by TintinHerge » Sun Sep 01, 2013 6:28 pm

Any tips for queues and procedure to collect OCI from HCI London?

Do I have to queue up on the left side outside the HCI? Or do I collect the token and go straight inside?

Also, do I have to drop the UK passport in the morning and collect in the afternoon?

Many thanks in advance

You don't need to go inside. You need to submit passport at the counter (outside) and collect coupon. Come back later in the afternoon for collection between 4.30-5pm.
There is no need to queue unless you arrive early..you can deposit passport anytime upto 1200..better arrive bit late - 10.30/11 ish ...and it'll take few minutes to submit the passport and collect coupon.

Thanks for the reassurance, I sent an e-mail over the weekend to enquire about the status which they replied to this morning giving me a different acknowledgement number, once I enquired with this all details were seen online and I was really surprised to find out that the OCI is all ready to pick up in London, everything was completed within 4 weeks, really impressed as my own took 16 weeks at Birmingham, I would defo recommend applying at London even if it is via post, as Birmingham applying in person took over 16 weeks...below is the timeline

File Acknowledgment Number GBRL********
Date Of Acknowledgment 19-JUL-2013
Registration Status at Mission LONDON
OCI- Number A*******
Documents Printing Status PROCESSED On 13-AUG-2013
Dispatched From MOIA (OCI ) NEW DELHI On 14-AUG-2013
Document received At LONDON On 20-AUG-2013

Going to send passport for the stamp tomorrow via post..will update once I have received everything...

Many Thanks

Applied today at HCI London. Went there at 7:30AM and there was a long queue for OCI. The queue started moving at 8:30 and I got my token at 9:30 No. 488 (OCI 88 ). I was told to come back at 12:00. I went to work, I work two station from Temple underground. I went back at 12:00 and 478 was in progress. My turn came quickly and my application was submitted at 12:25PM :!:

Hi

I have sent OCI postal application on 16th Aug., still haven't got my surrender certificate/acknowledgement till now. (I forgot to include SD envelope, not sure whether this is the reason)

Also, i am unable to check the status, as it is showing 'No Records Found'

Can you Please advise is there any way to know about the status of OCI progress, as i am very much worried about this?

Thanks
Raj

Seems to suggest that HCI hasnt started processing your application. Send the OCI team an email.

Is it necessary (mandatory) to send the original documents like (passports Indian and British, naturalisation certificate, surrender certificate etc..) along with the self attested photocopies when applying for OCI through the post?

I know the British passport has to be sent if collecting the OCI sticker but my question is when the part-a/b application is sent my post is it necessary to send the originals?

According to previous comments most applicants have only sent their original surrender cert, but I sent the surrender cert, naturalisation and the renounced Indian Passport to be safe, everything was returned via the SED I sent with application within a week, I would say if its not an issue to send all the docs as to prevent the hassle and delay afterwards if they request for them later.
