Please can anyone advise if I need to send one self-addressed envelop for return of each passport or one envelop is enough for whole family (4 passports).

Hello members,

Just wanted to know from your experience, how long it is taking now a days for oci booklet to deliver from the date it received at HCI London from Delhi. I know oci can be delivered by post only but in case of emergency can we request for same day stamping and collection from HCI? I have applied in person (London) on 9th June and booked my tickets for 4th August. It is still under process and I don’t think it will come to HCI before 7 weeks so there will be no time left to send them SDE and wait few days to be delivered. So any one had experience to collect the oci from embassy in emergency?

Thanks

Hi

OCI confirmed to me that in emergency cases they do allow you to collect in person if there is not enought time to wait for post. If there is more than one application you do need to take with you a letter of consent from all parties you are colecting for. I am in the same boat as you . Aplied in person 10 June (still showing under process) and flying to India 9 Aug. I also asked whether in the short time scales I should apply for tourist visa) which they didnt answer so I am assuming it will be ready....! Fingers crossed for both of us :D

That is very useful information. I hope, we can submit the passport in person as well. Am I right?

they didnt say - they basically said nothing can be granted in the first three weeks from ack. after that if it is granted it takes a ffurther two weeks to be printed and that if time ran out for a scheduled trip could collect in person.. bascially they said keep checking from this week onwards to see if the status changes!

Thanks Mollsm,

Really useful information. Lady in OCI counter told me that within 6 weeks it will definitely come but I am not really convinced after seeing other applicant’s timeline. So keeping other options open including entry visa. Do you have any idea in case of emergency oci stamping and collection do I need to book appointment or just que in the morning and take token to see OCI counter? How it will work?
Any update of your application please let us know here.

Regards, Amit

Thanks techie_09. Much appreciate your basic details on what was accepted. Like most of these processes, clarity on supporting documents is not crystal clear. This becomes even more important when taking a day off work and making a trip to the Embassy. Its a pity if the application is not accepted for some small/silly document not printed the way the embassy wanted it.

Thanks,
In total it takes 2 months to get the OCI in your hands from the date of acknowledgement ...
With luck, should be processed next week (mid/end of week) and be in UK week after..
Best to ask the HCI if you can collect the OCI in person... as it will take a week to get it via post
