I had applied for my elder one year ago in Edinburgh, got it in a month. But, now they are following NEW procedure as they said. I don't know is it any pilot procedure at CGI Edinburgh.

Thank you,

Hi SK

I will try calling and let you know if I hear anything useful :)

Hi beresford 12,

21/01/2017 was a saturday. Do VFS Goswell accept passport submission on Saturday ?
That would be great if they do.

Cheers,
negs

Hi

I emailed india embassy and got below response today morning

Dear Applicant,

Greetings from Consulate General of India, Edinburgh.

We are looking at applications dated 28/11/2016 which are for online documents checking as per new procedure.

Once your application turn is up and if we need to contact you we will write to you.

You may continue to check at https://passport.gov.in/oci/statusEnquiry

Also note as we are dealing with a number of incomplete applications delays are expected so no travel plans should be planned
until all is clear or for any emergency travel a short visa may be applied which is issued in 3 days’ time.

Regards,

OCI team
CGI Edinburgh

Hi Sathish,

I got exactly the same reply on 27th January from CGI Edinburgh.
They are looking at applications dated 28/11/2016.
I don't think they are providing reliable information at all.
It has been 3 weeks since I get the same message like yours' from them, how it can be still 28/11/2016 applications.

Yesterday I got response from them to another email, as follows...

"Kindly note OCI is taking longer than expected due to huge incomplete application being received as per new procedure.
As mentioned in our mail we are trying to clear the back log which is diverting our resources."

If you send another email then you may get the same response I think...

They are just trying to show, they are responding to the applicant queries with this type of non-reliable, misleading information.

I have tweeted Sushma Swaraj, but not received any info as it is not an SOS call.

You can try as well, if you could.

Thanks,
SK.

Hi SK

I think Edinburgh is slow...
I emailed to admn.edinburgh@mea.gov.in and got response from Vishnu.
I think there is no point in having high commission in edinburgh if they cannot handle

it would have applied by going to London or Birmingham

I have booked tickets to fly on 03rd April and don't know whether things will move faster

when asked they suggested to get visa which can come in 3 days

Kindly note London and Birmingham are big missions who are able to handle the workload.

You may try different browsers.

Hi Sathish,

Thanks a lot for update. I think you have applied on 3rd January, haven't you.
So it took two months to be acknowledged.
I applied on 13th Jan, nothing heard anything yet.
And I think you booked your flights for first week of April, is n't it?

Thanks,
SK.

Hi SK

Yes I have booked tickets on first week of April
I don't think I will get OCI before that
I am thinking to apply e-visa

When I enquired them they said they have huge backlog.....I don't know why this is going to take so long to process an OCI :?

They can close this embassy and at least we can apply either in London or Birmingham to move things faster...

Thanks,
Sathish

Hi Sathish,

I got my originals back on Saturday 11th March, but online status still showing same as before 'no such record found'.
I have booked my tickets as well for last week of April.
I can't see, OCI processed by that time, planning to apply for 6 months tourist visa for my little one, as she is going to stay there till August.

Thanks,
SK

Hi SK,

that's a better idea.
India High commission customer server is also not helpful and are not giving a date.
They are asking to email to know the status and if we email then there is no update

Thanks,
Sathish
