Aside from indiancowboy has anyone else had theirs processed so quickly?

Wondering how long it normally sits at "under process"

Congratulations. Approx 1 month end to end.

I've just received my docs back, but all its showing online is:

Date Of Acknowledgment 09-OCT-2018
Registration Status at Mission LONDON
Documents Printing Status UNDER-PROCESS

Is this normal? Wondering when I should expect to see further information, such as confirmation the docs were received/accepted.

Hello,

I have been trying to book an appointment at VFS Leicester all week to submit OCI appication for family of 4 but keep getting the message

"Please try again later or call our helpdesk on 09057570045,
As we are currently updating our systems. We apologize for the inconvenience."

It has been like this all week. This happens when u select schedule appointment, choose Leicester, 4 applications and then OCI for services.

If i change OCI to surrender passport, indian passport or consular services it gives me a date but not for OCI.

If i choose another City and then OCI it gives me a date. So its only for OCI Leicester.

Any one else gave this problem? Any suggestions.

For the benefit of anyone reading this in the future, i'll answer my own question. There was no intermediate status, it simply went:

"Under-Process" -> "Processed"

My timeline:

Date Of Acknowledgment 09-OCT-2018
Documents Printing Status PROCESSED On 29-OCT-2018
Dispatched From MEA (OCI ) NEW DELHI On 29-OCT-2018
Document received At LONDON On 29-OCT-2018

Hope that helps.

We submitted our passports yesterday for the last part of the OCI process. I've noticed other peoples posts sharing their online status state the following:

PASSPORT SUBMITTED IN PERSON at VFS:

Our status still doesnt show anything about the passport having been submitted. Is this normal?

Hi
My wife never had Indian passport, she travelled to Kenya on her mothers passport, she acquired British citizenship sometimes between 1946 and 1965 either by naturalisation or registration while in Kenya. Can she apply for oci from uk on her own criteria? Can somebody advise?

For the benefit of others I'll answer my own question once again. We received our passports and OCI cards today. The status page never changed to reflect the passports had been submitted. I'm not sure if it was supposed to, as others in this thread have posted that it showed "PASSPORT SUBMITTED IN PERSON at VFS"

Anyway our complete timeline for 1 Adult and 2 Children, all British Passport Holders applying through my parents Indian Passports:

Date Of Acknowledgment 09-OCT-2018
Documents Printing Status PROCESSED On 29-OCT-2018
Dispatched From MEA (OCI ) NEW DELHI On 29-OCT-2018
Document received At LONDON On 29-OCT-2018

Passport Submitted at VFS office: 01/11/2018

Passport & OCI received through post: 06/11/2018

Hope that helps others with same questions.

I submitted my OCI application today, but the man at the counter had to ring his manager to see if he could accept my application. He suggested that the Indian High Commission could reject my application as my occupation is a journalist. He also said that I will have to apply for Journalism visa every time I go to India even on holiday if I do not get an OCI. Did anyone know anything about this? Do they rejected OCI applications from Journalists?

Hi All,

Jumping on the bandwagon here, with an OCI application for my little boy just lodged in Belfast. We live in the south, but I chose to fly to Belfast as we have an India trip booked in mid-Jan and wanted to give ourselves plenty of time given the processing times and the Christmas period. Belfast is the only place where I secured an appointment for Monday (19/11) on the preceding Friday (16/11) :D !

Nevertheless, a few questions:

a) Does an application in Belfast (or any of the other centres, e.g. Birmingham / Edinburgh, etc.) slow your processing down? I understand that all applications are processed in London. Wanted to check if anyone else had the same situation. I submitted my application on Monday and haven't even got an SMS acknowledgement that the papers have been sent to the High Commission.
b) Really picky staff at the VFS centre in Belfast insisted that I write a handwritten letter to the HCI stating that the photos submitted were potentially non-compliant (which is a load of rubbish given that I had submitted the same photos for his surrender certificate and they went through just fine) - again, anyone with a similar experience?
c) If I'm running too close to the wire by the end of the year, is there an option to submit the British Passport in person at HCI London rather than travel back to Belfast for the purpose?
d) When I enter the application file reference and British Passport numbers on the OCI website, it returns 'No such record found' - really? Is it because the HCI hasn't received the application? Of course there's a record as I filed an application online and went to VFS !

Got this response from the Public Response Unit, High Commission of India, London when I asked about applying for OCI as working as a journalist in the UK... 'You are advised to come for an Open day which is held every Wednesday between 11:00-12:00 hrs.' that's it. just a one line which was not helpful at all.

Hi All,

Quick update as I now have an acknowledgement - so the waiting game starts! Current status reads 'under-process' on the OCI website.

Still have these questions though:

Wanted to check if anyone else had the same situation. I submitted my application on Monday and haven't even got an SMS acknowledgement that the papers have been sent to the High Commission.

Hi,

I had a similar experience when we went to submit an OCI re-issue application for my son after passport renewal. We had to submit the originals eventhough VFS website clearly says that only copies need to be submitted. We challenged it and showed them their own website, they claim that their website instructions are wrong. They also charged us £59.48 thought the actual fee is only £21 (similar break down as you mentioned in your post, though we had an appointment). They returned the originals on the very next day which means that they haven't even sent it to the high commission. I raised a compliant to high commission using info.london@hcilondon.in and I was contacted today asking for proof of payment. According to them VFS should only charge £21 which includes VFS fee as approved by High Commission.
Also there is no need for VFS to keep the originals at the application stage, originals are required only at the time of approval. They also said there is an option to sent via post to VFS which i wasn't aware of.
Second Secondary to High Commission promised me to take this up with VFS.

I would urge you/anyone else who has gone through similar experience to write to High Commission.

Regards
Jobin.

OCI miscellaneous service
I believe and in my opinion and experience VSF Goswell are running and absolute SCAM. Indian Embassy please take note of your appointed AGENT.
Could not get an early appointment, earliest was the 16.10.2018 when applied for appointment on 29.09.2018. Read over here that there was a walk in service. So went along on the 4th, got my no and waited for my turn (this is where the scam starts) at the counter the clerk at the desk came up with various objections...like photo not right, background not white enough....scare tactics...clerk than confirm with clerk next to her who shakes head to indicate in the negative, she now goes on to say we can begin the process. At this time you say thank God trio not a wasted . Sorry they like to be called OFFICERS. If you don't have an appointment, you are charged a fee of £29.00 which is disguised as a premium postal service + other fees.
Breakdown: towards embassy fees £18.00, Surcharge collected on behalf of embassy £3.00, VSF service charge £6.20, SMS charge £1.20, courier urgent charge £12.33, VAT on optional services to which you have no option £3.95 total £44.68 x 2(applicants) = £89.36 +£29.60 OCI courier fee. Giving a GRAND total £118.36. Embassy makes £42.00 and the rest VSF agent. Plus individual cost to attend. This could all be done over the net directly just like applying for a British passport.
LIES uncovered... on my second visit to hand over my passports for the 2nd time having received it back on the 6-10-2018, I asked the clerk/person who works in office (officer) as to why the passports returned on the 6th, his explanation made no sense and he was tripping over his own words (SCAM). I told him that it was a waste of postage. This is where they make money by charging urgent delivery and sending it economy.I was told they send it to the embassy who check to see if any valid visa....on what ????? I then questioned the clerk/office worker as to why i can't collect my OCI now, and was told that if I hand over before 11.00 am the doc are delivered the same day to embassy and then embassy then post out and takes 7 days to receive. I swallowed the pill and left. Next day i phoned the embassy to verify as i felt VSF were LiYING and was told that they send all docs back to VSF the same day by 4.30 pm. So hence my experience with dealing with VSF. I believe as i paid for urgent delivery I should have received my OCI on the 11.10.18 but on both occasions the service booked by Vsf with DX courier was 5 day service although charged according to receipt URGENT £12.33.

Thanks for taking the time to clarify. Guess we're in the same boat :(

I emailed HCI London and got the standard reply that they're waiting for the relevant department in India to provide clearance.
