There hasn't been any updates on the royal mail tracking reference so far. I have 2 of them and both aren't coming up.
No updates so far on the royal mail tracking reference yet. Tried calling up VFS helpline but no one is picking up there. We have had to cancel our flight bookings unfortunately :( :x

Hi, what background color photographs did you submit? I have upcoming appointments for my son and but confused on whether plain white is acceptable.

Hello,

I applied for OCI update for renewed British passport for my kids on Nov 8th by uploading a photo, signature and passport copy. Status still shows "Your application has been acknowledged by competent authorities. It is under consideration."

Has anyone got this approved recently? How long did it take? I have my flights booked for the weekend :(

Thanks in advance
It took nearly 7 weeks to get the acknowledgement. But there will not be any issue with the travel if you carry the old and new passports. https://www.hcilondon.gov.in/docs/16171792861.pdf

Hi, I applied for my daughter’s OCI on same day as mine however 1 signed letter was missing from portal which was later uploaded to off-hold application at 15th November as per spoken words of VFS centre colleague on the very day of submission. I had to write same letter 3 times as per requested size and format. The letter was signed along her father’s signatures and passports copies again to mention we are not married. This is to say I take legal responsibility of her in India and take account of her actions. I am British along her father of India. It was a long process since I resubmitted application using my root reference along her father who had to take the day off to visit during the appointment orelse I would be made to cancel if his signature on their written letter was not made. It was a hassle as I say. Too many unnecessary copies and proofs not mentioned on any websites or forms taken although I was ready for it all. It was double to what was handed to me on the OCI checklist even. Not sure if anyone is made to go through such long hassle as of mine? I was literally in tears and more than exhaustion of standing and my daughter crying for hours as I was made to make 4x copies of documents. The copier takes random coins of change to operate.
Date Of Acknowledgment:12-NOV-2021
Registration Status at Mission: LONDON Hounslow VFS
OCI Application Status: UNDER-PROCESS as at 31st Dec
I called and was told that the documents are only sent last week to Delhi High Commission which I don’t understand because her birth certificate was returned on 23rd Nov via DX.

Hi
Does anyone have an example of a letter of employment for OCI that they have used recently?

Also Is it definitely required or can we use just payslips?

Thanks for the response. In terms of other documentation that need to be uploaded - which category do you choose for the following as I see no drop down menu for these:

1. Naturalization/Registration Certificate (Upload online)- Provide photocopy also
2. Surrender/renunciation Certificate of Indian Passport. (Upload online)- Provide
photocopy also
3. Address proof as there is no "address option"

Hi I uploaded the documents online as following:

- In passport upload (UK passport, naturalisation certificate and driving license) the driving license covered address proof.
- In work letter upload, letter from employer and recent wage slip.
- In Indian origin proof: Cancelled Indian passport and surrender certificate.
- Relationship upload: Marriage certificate.

The multiple pdf's for each category were merged together and then compressed to reduce file size. I carried all the supporting documents (original and copies) with me for appointment.

Thanks

thanks bro, very helpful.

Another query please: If I am applying on basis of self, i.e had indian citizenship before , then we shouldn't need to upload marriage certificate should we? This is as I am the "root" indian.

Marriage certificate is required to endorse partner's name in OCI. Like in Indian passport you have the parents names and spouse name.

Hi Everyone,

Here is my timeline of new OCI application for family of 4.

Date of application: 06/12/2021 at VFS Belfast
Date of acknowledgement: 09/12/2021
Registration status: At mission London.
OCI application status: Processed on 31/12/2021
After that no updates on tracking and OCI was delivered by DX on 06/01/2022

All in all it took 4 weeks and 4 days for new OCI.

Hi dontringthebell

Thanks for your response, I have recently submitted our son’s first oci application at Vfs belfast. Unfortunately we lost our marriage certificate so I had to include a copy but lady there (insisted original certificate) advised I put letter explaining there is no original. I’m wondering, my wife’s Indian passport has my name as spouse , so do you think that would be enough?

I guess it should work considering they accepted your application with the letter. Though in the long run it won't be a bad idea to get a duplicate/secondary copy issued of the same.

Hi, I live in England (north-east) and would like to submit my OCI application at the VFS-Belfast. That is only where I can find the earliest available appointment. Has anyone done this and will they accept applications from outside NIE in Belfast ?

As long as you chose London Jurisdiction while completing online application that should be fine. Follow guidelines regarding photo and signature/thumb impression upload. Lady there is very helpful, just have couple extra documents for everything to offset any surprises, should need arise there is an internet centre nearby to make amendments to online application and reprint. Hope this helps

Urgent - Overseas Citizenship of India (OCI)

Urgent - I have been struggling to get letter of employment from my company, HR being a complete pain. Can I use my contract of employment which was signed 2 years ago with the latest payslip or will that not be enough?

I need to make a judgement call whether I cancel my appointment for the coming Monday or not as I have not received this employment letter as my appointment location is a number of hours drive away from me
