Hello. Just need some clarification please.

I am an OCI holder. I had my OCI issued at 32 years of age.
I recently renewed my British Passport. I am now 38 years of age.

Do I need to upload my photo and new passport details on the OCI India gov website under the gratis service?

I understand this is a mandatory requirement for under 20 years of age and once over 50 as the rules changed in 2021 so they now longer need to keep renewing there OCI, but was it not always mandatory for persons age 20 to 50 to do this before?

Thanks

Hello,

I have an appointment for a minor application at London Houndslow. Do I need to take the minor to the appointment or can I submit the application myself as a parent?

Thanks!

Nah, the minor does not need to attend the appointment. Make sure you and the other parent both sign the minor section on the declaration (even though there isn't a spot for two signatures). And take a consent letter from the other parent if they won't be attending with you (not sure this part is absolutely necessary but I'd do it just in case).

Hello,

My OCI processed on 23rd Sep 2022. Does anyone know how long it takes for OCI card to arrive?

Even my Daughters oci status processed on 26th Sep and we haven’t received OcI card yet, when I track the DX tracking number was given by Vfs when we submit tied the application. DX website says have not been recognised. So guessing DX didn’t receive the OCI yet. I can see form other members timelines that some received with in 2 days and others in 5. So trying to figure out how long it will take as need to travel to India urgently.

Please can someone help if you know OCI cards are printed in UK and it doesn’t need to come from India?

Application for renewal of oci due to name change

Date submitted: 26/05/2022
Status: under process since above date, no updates.
Submitted at Birmingham centre

Anyone know why for a renewal it’s taking so long as I’ve seen many people so fresh applications are coming much sooner wven after applying later than me
can someone help please, its been over 4 months now since its 'under-process'

Hi All,

Quick question - I am in the process of submitting an OCI application for my son (3 months old). He falls in the category "APPLICANT BORN OUTSIDE INDIA AND NEVER HELD INDIAN PASSPORT - APPLYING ON
THE BASIS OF PARENTS/ GRAND PARENTS/GREAT GRAND PARENTS". He has got his standard UK birth certificate which contains parents details (issued 2 weeks after birth in July 2022). Should this certificate be apostilled or could be used as it is?

The guidance seems to mention apostille for post-dated birth certificates, but in our case this is his original/first birth certificate issued right after birth.

Reading through recent posts, it appears quite a few of the members have recently done minor OCI application, possibly in the category similar to mine, so reaching out to all of you on the question above.

Many thanks.

Full UK birth certificate should be fine. They did not ask for apostle certificate for similar application last month.

I came here to ask this exact question, but looks like its already been answered. I’ve also applied for an oci for my one year old son and only read about the apostille bit after i uploaded the birth certificate.

Just one more question, do i need to upload the both the parents birth certificates. I’ve uploaded passport and driving license copies for both parents.

Thanks

Should I be worried they did not take any of my original documents except my old PIO card? Appointment on 29.9.22. Acnowledgement on 30.9.22 and now UNDER PROCESS.

Realistic chance of OCI being in my hand by the 19th November? Anyone care to guess? :?

I received the OCI card today ( OCI approved on 23rd Sep). Also signature from OCI is from Birmingham Indian consulate. So it should be printed from UK.

Encouraging right now even if it turns out to not be the case in the end!

Thanks - that is reassuring to hear that apostille is not required in this case.

Have you had any success with this? I am facing a similar issue with my name change application.

Hi all,

Very informative forum. I'm currently starting the process of applying OCI for my sons and wife. My wife's application will be based via my OCI. Just wondering if anybody has applied OCI for foreign spouse and what were the documents required to be uploaded. The VFS site and HCI site differ in what they want, also it was mentioned that there might be an interview as well... we were married in the UK, so does the marriage certificate needs to be certified or apostilled....any thoughts would be appreciated.
cheers

Did you apply at Goswell, London? My timelines are the same as yours. I'm about to fly on 5th Nov so hoping to get it before then. Looking at some previous timeliness it appears you get it in 4 weeks. You should defo have it in your hand before 19 Nov 👍🏾

Need help with OCI application for me.

I am applying for OCI on spousal basis. My wife is Indian born but holds OCI with UK passport. We are both retired in UK and no longer work.

I was born in Uganda and only ever held British passport (previously British overseas). My parents (now deceased were born in india but held British overseas passports) as they lived in Uganda and passed away about 30 years ago.

Have I made a mistake by stating their nationality as India? I just looked at my birth certificate and because it said Indian i put india - but I don’t have any paperwork or document to present if requested for them. Father passed away 60 years ago and mother about 20 years. - I’m also doing my application on spousal basis not self.

I’m also little confused with what documents to attach. So far I was going to attach:

My UK passport (photo page).
My wife’s current UK passport (photo page)
My wife’s expired UK passport in which OCI was applied for (photo page).
My UK driving licence (both sides)
My birth certificate
My certificate of registration
My wife’s certificate of naturalisation
My marriage certificate (issued in india)
My wife’s OCI (photo and address page)

Do I need to attached a letter to say there’s no employment documents as we are retired (I’ve noted this in the application that we are retired).

Do I also need to attach my wife’s passport Indian passport info (copy of passport or surrender docs)?

Sorry one last question. Is anyone allowed to accompany me to the appointment? I.e a carer?

Noticed the appointment says you “Only one member per family will be allowed into the centre. Friends and other family members are strictly not allowed unless accompanying a minor.”

Hi,

I have applied for OCI on Sept 9th at Birmingham. On checking the status of the OCI until early last week, I could see it was showing 'under process', but from last Thursday(Oct 6th), when I check I can see 'no user found'. Does anyone know why is this so? I initially thought the site might be down but its been nearly a week now so hard to believe it is a site problem.

Thanks!
