Sorry one last question. Is anyone allowed to accompany me to the appointment? I.e a carer?

Noticed the appointment says you “Only one member per family will be allowed into the centre. Friends and other family members are strictly not allowed unless accompanying a minor.”
I was there in Goswell last week. They ask carers to wait in a coffee shop nearby and to come back when you are called to the desk. Way too many people inside, not much space. I waited about 1hr before I was called to the desk for the OCI.

How would they carer know that they’ve been called if I’m inside?

Hi
You will need to provide your birth certificate clearly indicating the name of our parents.
You will need to provide proof of one of your parents Indian origin. A copy of their old Indian Passport or a copy of the domicile or the nativity certificate. If they hold a OCI card then a copy of this and the base papers on which the OCI card was issued.

You will also need to provide documents relating to yourself as well i.e Passport and Proof of Address and letter of employment etc.

Detailed guidance is provided on this document

https://www.hcilondon.gov.in/docs/16372 ... 112021.pdf

Hope the above is helpful

Did you apply at Goswell, London? My timelines are the same as yours. I'm about to fly on 5th Nov so hoping to get it before then. Looking at some previous timeliness it appears you get it in 4 weeks. You should defo have it in your hand before 19 Nov 👍🏾
[/quote]

Unfortunately, I was too chicken and paid for a visa too since there were no available appointments in Nov. I have my visa now. I just checked my status, says OCI processed on 21.10.22 *facepalm* wasted so much money on this!!!

I still haven't heard anything on the OCI from DX delivery so not sure what to make of it?
How did you manage to get visa as I was thinking of it as back up plan but couldn't find any appointment?

They have extra sessions running currently, for Visas, as there has been a backlog. There are appointments available this Saturday 29th October. These can be found here https://www.hcilondon.gov.in/. Click on Consular and you will see the links to the different centres. There are still a few appointments available. Though from your posts it appears you are flying on 5th November so not sure if you will get the Visa issued in time. Hopefully you should get your OCI well before you travel. Don't forget the Centres were closed on Monday. So hopefully in a couple of days they should be able to dispatch. Goodluck and please keep us posted. It would be interesting to know when you actually get the OCI card.

If you go on 29th, you should be able to get your visa by the 5th. I went on the Saturday and got mine back on Wednesday. If there are no Royal Mail strikes, it will be fine!

I am in a bit of dilemma, my children's OCI appointment is on 28th October, and i have to travel with family on 23rd December for my brother's wedding, and it's really important. Now i'm confused whether i shall apply for the OCI and take my chances, or apply for the visa that normally would take around 2-3 weeks to arrive.
Love to hear people suggestions in this case what shall i go with ? :)

Is 29th a walk in Visa application? because on website it says no appointment available.

It is not walk in, but it’s probably booked out. If you live in london, it is worth trying to walk in though. When I went to Hounslow I did see people trying without appointments and some of them were served.

I applied on 29th Sept. I got notification to say they are delivering it today 27.10.22. SO I would take the chances!

Hi, I got notification to say they are delivering mine today. I would hang fire. I applied for visa 2 weeks after OCI because they were quoting 8-10 weeks turn around time and there were no appointments showing in November for visa so I didn't want to take the chance.

Not sure If I'm right, but Birmingham VFS timeline seems to be slower than London's. I did mine at BHM, got acknowledgement on 12/09, processed on 21/10, still awaiting OCI card. When I emailed them before processing the OCI, the reply I got was to enquire after 45 days, so expect around 45 days from acknowledgment.

Even my Daughters oci status processed on 26th Sep and we haven’t received OcI card yet, when I track the DX tracking number was given by Vfs when we submit tied the application. DX website says have not been recognised. So guessing DX didn’t receive the OCI yet. I can see form other members timelines that some received with in 2 days and others in 5. So trying to figure out how long it will take as need to travel to India urgently.

Please can someone help if you know OCI cards are printed in UK and it doesn’t need to come from India?
Hi, did you get the OCI card? if so, please can you share your date/timeline. I'm also in similar situation and has a flight booked for travel next week so your timeline might give me an idea. Thank you!

I am in the process of applying OCI card for my two months old baby. I am a British citizen (through naturalisation) and my wife is still Indian (ILR holder).

I have submitted the application online and I got an appointment for 10/11/2022. I would be grateful if you can answer following questions:

1. Only I am (father) is attending the appointment. I am not taking either baby (applicant) or my wife. Do, I need authorisation letter from wife?

2. I was informed that both parents have to sign the printed application form. I can only see the space for one. Can you please clarify that?

3. Accidentally i made a typo on application reference while booking the appointment, everything else is correct, just typo in the reference number, is that okay?

Thank you in advance
