I got my oci in under a month.

Applied on 23.01.2023 and received it today.

It only has 6 pages, do they stamp the OCI or not and what to do if all the pages are stamped?
Do i apply for a new one?

Just applied for OCI at VFS Goswell (06/03/2023). Will update later with dates when I've received documents and OCI back, but for now, just wanted to report on my experience.
It was very positive overall, in and out within 20 minutes.
I was a very straightforward case - became a naturalised British citizen in January, got my British Passport in February. Surrendered my Indian passport at the end of February.

Original documents needed: UK passport, surrendered Indian passport, UK naturalisation certificate, India surrender certificate.
They took everything except for UK passport.

Photocopies: All four above. Main pages (front and back of Indian passport, photo page of UK passport, nothing else)

Print out of application form, and of appointment confirmation.

I am a PhD student, so I photocopied my student ID, and also took a printout from my student portal website about my enrollment in the degree. Pretty sure only the first would be fine.

I live in university owned acommodation which has no separate utility bills, and don't have a drivers licence, so I just took a copy of my tenancy agreement. That was enough, no questions asked.

That's it.

I had also taken my birth certificate and school-leaving certificate (finished class 12 from India), and a bank statement, but none of that needed.

Self-attest every photocopy to save time.

Don't be befuddled by bad reviews here, the vast number of people I heard complaining or having to do extra things at the centre were people who had made very clear mistakes. Check everything and be a little bit on the safe side, and you'll be fine hopefully.

I had my appointment on 03Mar2023 at London Hounslow. Experience wise had a long wait before my time but had less than 20 mins for application checking. I applied for me, my daughter and my son. I have a question regarding, I have to apply for naturalisation for my daughter I was Tier 2 General when she was Born. So I have to wait until I get my ILR before applying for her british passport. During the document review at VFS, the officer who checked the document returned my daugther's original naturalisation certificate and photocopy and said it is not needed. My question is do we not required to submit the naturalisation certificate eventhough it is uploaded in online?

Can someone clarify or share your experience?

I have received my son's OCI he was born in the UK and I (father) has got an ILR but my wife is still in process of completing his 5 years on tier 2 dependent.
Yes they took my son's naturalization and birthday certificate original and returned after 4 days of submission.

I went to Bradford VFS on Thursday to get an OCI.

However, it's Sunday now ... and when i go to check my status it brings up no details at all, essentially saying 'not found'.

Should i be worried here? They took payment by debit card and didn't keep my passport.

They don't keep the passport original.

It was a smooth process, if you have all the documents in place it will be striaght forward. Ensure to attach an appointment copy for each application.

I applied for new OCI from Birmingham it's been more than 6 weeks still under process. I saw lots people getting update original documents received I never see it on my status. Is there something I need to worry about or it's normal not to see original documents received status? I am getting panic now. Please help.

Key points :

1) Upload all the specified documents in OCI portal. No problem which category but you need to upload every documents. Can be consolidated in single or few PDF documents.
2) Take copies of all the documents, if not uploaded VFS will upload for you. They charge £15 for this service but you need to give them the copy of the document to upload.
3) If you don’t have the copy, you can print out in VFS either from original document or you can get access to computer to download and print. 50p per page in VFS Hounslow.
4) Plenty of parking in the back side of VFS Hounslow. JustPay app payment.
5) If you’ve uploaded all documents, the process will be smooth, else you have to wait in long queue to get print outs and then another queue to get through to the VFS counter.
6) In OCI (Passport like) card, you have only 5 or 6 pages. It is only for reference, there wont be any stamping whilst in or out of India. All stampings will be on UK Passport.

Overall process is about a month time. Good Luck !

I'm at 5 weeks (plus a few extra days for them to send the documents down from Bradford) at Birmingham. Nothing so far.

Been 5 days now and heard nothing about delivery message or when i will get the OCI.

I just had my OCI appointment today at VFS Leicester (Part of Birmingham). The process has slightly changed for the better - the original documents are no longer submitted to High Commission of India. The original documents are verified by the VFS staff over the counter and returned back. No original documents are taken- just the application form and photo copy of all the documents!

I was told to expect a approx 6 weeks to receive the OCI.

I had my OCI processed 10 days ago. But still nothing in the post.
