hi GUYS,

Hope someone can help me. I am going to apply for OCI card by POST. Just want to know where I should apply (Birmingham or London) as I am living in West Midlands.

What is best way to pay the fees? I can not find the information anywhere. How many photos they want?

Cheers,

Cheers Malik,

I went to london high commission website yesterday, they have stated that I have to surrender my old Indian passport with the fee of 90 pounds before applying for OCI card. Is that true? Last year when I sent my British passport for long visa, I also sent my Indian passport which they stamped saying "British nationality acquired, Passport cancelled".

Hi

You need to check with HCI.
But I am sure they will ask for Surrender Certificate now and thus you need to pay £90 for getting it (even though your passport was cancelled by them!!)

Good Luck.

Please all remember if you have had an Indian Passport surrender certificate done, also have 2 x copies of this in your application pack. I had this done, but when I went through the checklist on the CGI Bham website it did not mention this and forgot to take it and they refused my oci app. (Obviously I should have taken it as it was a pre-requiste for the oci app, but remember the check list does not mention it)

thanks

Any progress with your oci application. It seems HCI london dealing with applications rather slowly and randomly. This is not ideal situation.

Hi

As of today, nope. I spoke to CGI yesterday (after around 100 times redial!!)

CGI says for postal applications it takes around 10 weeks to acknowledge and you should enquiry only after 12 weeks, if online status is not changed.

One thing I learnt, for CGI best to go personally and apply for either SC or OCI.

As of today, they are doing GBRBI182xxxxx series.

So, I am going to wait .....

Thanks
Mallik

Hi all,
Need of some advice.
My background- I am a Sri Lankan married to British Citizen of Indian Origin. My wife and myself would like to move to India some time in the future. What are the possibilites of myself and my wife getting OCI provided that I am from a SriLankan background. My wife's parents had held Indian passports in the past (Now British). Any comments and suggestion appreciated.

Many thanks

Passport with Application?

Post by joker3001 » Wed Feb 10, 2010 5:14 pm

Hi,

I am thinking of applying for my OCI however I can not be without my passport because of work and the possibilty of working abroad and leaving it in the hand of immigration for an undertimate time seems too risky.

Can I send the application with Photocopies of my passport or is the passort a requirement.

btw I am a british born citizen with indian parents.

Regards
J

i have acknowledged on 18 may, nd only photo has been scanned. i have contacted the hcl by phone, email, and post many times and have had no reply. i personally went to the embassy twice and the forst time they asked for more photos, and second time they charged 90 pound for surrendering my passport. They are all just robbing my money, and time wasting.
