Split name in Indian Passport

Hi,

I would like to split my name in my Indian passport as I do not have a surname and my full name is given under 'Given Name'.
Current Passport:
Surname :
Given Name(s): A B C

Would like to change this to:
Surname : C
Given Name(s): A B

(1) Has anyone done this before if so what was the procedure?

(2) Will this change in passport affect my spouse visa renewal(2.5 years extension)? As I have to renew it this year in a couple of months.

(3) Should I give any newspaper ads for splitting my name?

(4) Should I re-issue or renew my passport? My passport still has 4-5 years of validity.

Hi,

Could someone please reply to my post.
This is for re-issuing my Indian Passport in UK.
Like I mentioned in my post, I am due for my UK Spouse visa extension this August and would like to get my name sorted in the passport before that.

1. Yes. I have done it for my daughter. Moved her middle name to surname to make life simple.
2. No impact. As you are not changing the name.
3. No.
4. Yes. Need to apply for fresh passport and fill in the new details. You can renew your passport anytime irrespective of the validity.
