my Indian passports are with UK passport office and I have to travel due to an emergency back home. Does anyone know what the passport office will do in my circumstance?

If they abandon my application then travel plans in April get messed up and if they don't give my documents back I cannot travel not to attend to the emergency..

why don't you call the passport advice line and explain your need for emergency travel? they are usually very helpful and may help expediate the process for you.

Thanks ban.s. I had called them before posting and they said they will get the caseworker to call me.

Everything worked out well. The passport office were very helpful. They asked for proof of emergency which I gave them. They actually expedited the process and completed the checking so that it could move to the interview stage. As a result i could get supporting documents back.

They even allowed me to collect it from their office where the application was progressing. I haven't received the letters for arranging interviews as yet but hopefully in the next few days probably.

I am in the process of applying surrender Certificate for me, my wife and my daughter (2 years 5 months old)

Can you kindly confirm the Surrender Certificate fees for all three of us ?

Should I have to take postal order for 351.72 GBP ( 117.24 * 3 ) if I send it by Post ? Is there discount for Minor?

Kind Regards

It is ridiculous that a family of four are required to provide 4 different self addressed special delivery envelopes !!! Does the person who heads this got brains!!?

Surrendered 2 adult passports by post, timeline below:

Application Sent : 22/03/2014 (By RM Special delivery to Hayes)
Received by VFS : 24/03/2014
VFS sent to HCI : No clue
HCI issued surrender certificate : 28/03/2014
VFS Email Alert of completion: No alert, tracked special delivery return envelopes on Royal Mail website
Received Surrender certificate & cancelled passport by Self Address Special Delivery: 29/03/2014

Surrendering by post is quicker than applying in person, IMO.

Hi Forum,

I was due to apply for the family's PIO card tomorrow at the HCI. When doing a final check of the form and documents I noticed the HCI have swapped my British passport number with my wife's on the surrender certificate and vice versa.

So basically the British passport details on both our surrender certificates are wrong. Has this happened to anyone else in the forum?

1) How do I get this corrected? What are the documents required etc. Also would we need to send 2 separate self-addressed special delivery envelopes?
2) How much does it cost?
3) How long does it take to get the corrected surrender certificate? Whats the fastest way?
4) Is it really worth getting this corrected? Could the PIO application be rejected just because the British passport number in the surrender certificate is incorrect?

Can people please share their experiences on this? Gurus please advice urgently, I would like to make the PIO appointment tomorrow if its safe.

Regards

Has anyone applied for surrender application in last 10 days, I'd applied on 3 April and looking at a previous timeline it should not have taken this long. VFS office guys are telling me what's available on website that application is with high commission India.

Can someone share updated timelines, please?

Hi Shiva321,

Did you make a postal application to Hayes or did you make an application in person at Hayes?
