Outside UK born child registration

Post by Akhan88 » Mon Apr 15, 2024 10:42 pm

Hi

If father is British and mother from Pakistan the child born in Pakistan can get nationality straightway or needs registration like MN1 ? Or can apply right of abode or apply passport straightaway. Father was naturislised and have British passport before child birth.

If the father was British at the time of child's birth then child will be a British citizen by birth.
No need for registration, child can apply for a British passport: https://www.gov.uk/overseas-passports
Presumably child and parents are in PK - apply online and the system will tell you what is required.

Thanks for your reply. As I was reading the forum and it says passport from abroad can take long time so can apply right of abode instead as that's probably quicker ? Then once travel to the UK can apply passport for the baby?

Yes you can apply for right to abode to be added to current passport (if child has one).
