HCI however will not issue the OCI card until they have received a copy of your Renunciation Certificate.
I applied for RC on the 18th of December 2023 @ VFS Goswell, still no updated, Online Status "Application Received".

There are multiple emails online, not too sure which one works but I am going to send mine to all the below emails once I have received it. One of them might be the appropriate one.

Hello everyone
I had submitted my oci application in dec.
I received my RC today(after 3 months!!!) and as instructed, have emailed the OCI team a copy of the certificate. How much time is it taking for processing these days after this stage?
Will do, thanks!learner1947 wrote: ↑Mon Mar 04, 2024 9:19 pmI applied for RC & OCI around the same time as you, same status as it is for you.
Please update us on here, if you are able to get a response at all.
Thanks!

I don't think the online payment receipt is acceptable. It has to be the Receipt generated at VFS after you have successfully submitted and completed the Renunciation process.asingh13 wrote: ↑Mon Mar 04, 2024 4:17 pmWhen I first went to submit my OCI application at Manchester, I had already made the payment for renunciation online through my Indian bank account. I had the print out of the receipt but it was not accepted. They said that OCI will be accepted only after submission of the application for renunciation. This happens after it is signed by a Consulate official. They will take both OCI and renunciation applications at the same appointment.
I used the same photo for all the applications Surrender, OCI and Renunciation, 2X2 in white background. Worked for me!! Should not be a problem. Good Luck.RonV wrote: ↑Tue Mar 05, 2024 12:55 pmHarishShetty wrote: ↑Tue Mar 05, 2024 12:19 pmHi,

mistrk29 wrote: ↑Fri Mar 08, 2024 8:53 pmHi, all!
Need advice for OCI application based on my mother being the root Indian.
We are struggling with the documents needed to prove Indian origin.
We have:
Birth Certificate from India
Marriage Certificate from India
We do not have her Indian Passport or Surrender Certificate. She has naturalised since 1970s and is a British citizen now.
Are we able to apply using the Birth Certificate from India as proof? Does this need to notarised and if so, how do we go about doing this?
HCI informed us that getting a Nativity Certificate would be helpful but the application ask things such as 'name of vessel on which applicant emigrated from India' which was in the 1960s and so long forgotten/lost.
If anyone has advice it would be really helpful regarding next steps or experience of applying for nativity certificate.
learner1947 wrote: ↑Fri Mar 08, 2024 9:08 pmI think your mother's last Indian passport + your birth certificate should be enough to prove your Indian roots.
Comprehensive documents list is available here: https://www.hcilondon.gov.in/docs/16372 ... 112021.pdf
Good luck!

learner1947 wrote: ↑Fri Mar 08, 2024 9:18 pmSorry, completely forgot while writing the response that your mother doesn't have her last Indian Passport.
Here is the updated response:
Don't think just Indian birth certificate would be enough as that's most probably doesn't establish your Indian roots. I assume none of your parents has an OCI either?
Maybe you can try asking UK home office if you can get a copy of your mother's last Indian passport, once you have one passport, HCI should be able to track all her passports.
If the above doesn't work, try going to a HCI camp (usually organised in summer, information available on HCI website) and ask about this to the HCI employees, they are usually very helpful.
Keep us informed, as this is a unique issue and surely would help others.

Thank you for your reply! Currently no one in the family holds an OCI card. HCI advised to get a nativity certificate but there doesn’t seem to be much support online how to get one of these. Do you have any advice for this please or how to contact home office to get the Indian passport copy?
Thank you very much for your help
