Overstayed and in a fix

Post by Drcoup » Mon Feb 26, 2007 2:47 pm

Hi guys I need your advice. I applied to the Immigration authorities to regularise my stay after overstaying in February 2006. I have been in the UK for nearly 10 years. I have not had a reply from the authorities. I will be made redundant in a month as the company I am working for is closing down.

Therein lies my problem. I am not entitled to work, since I have remained here illegally. I can not provide my passport as immigration has it. I am not entitled to public funds. Anyone been in this situation before?

Hi

I'm not trying to scare you. But, you might get instructions for removal.

The same happenned to me. I was however unaware that it was illegal. My employer had confirmed it was ok to stay on.

Finally I was the one who suffered. My passports were handed over in the airport. The time was too short for me to do anything in the UK. Now even my ILR status is lost.

You probably might consider legal help from now itself to prepare yourself in that eventuality.

Again, this is not to scare you as individual cases differ.

Let us know how it goes.

Good luck.

Rajeev
