Parents Visa

Post by sr4390 » Mon Feb 11, 2008 5:38 am

I was wondering how easy/dfficult it is to help immigrate parents aged below 65 years. What 'exceptional circumstances' are usually accepted?

Thanks

Very difficult, almost impossible and no easy over 65 either, and no doubt it will get even more difficult as the UK tightens up.

Also you'll need at least ILR before be able to apply for them.

UK only wants added-value immigrants now I'm afraid...

Thanks for your reply. How long does it take to get ILR, if I come to UK on HSMP for MBAs?

Thanks

Even if they are over 65 years old, one of the criteria is that you are the only child who can take care of them, or possibly all your siblings are in the UK.

It's a bit early to think about ILR, let alone bringing parents in, let alone bringing fit parents under 65, if you are only coming here to study.

Be careful about making long-term plans at such an early stage. The UK government has made many changes along the way, particularly to hsmp, that have caught many people short.

To add to that, sr4390 - it'll take at least 5 years before anything can be done about your parents, so maybe you should sort yourself out first before planning for them (i.e. get to the UK first?)?

And I'm pretty certain that many things will change between now and 2013...
